Mahrojan Araby XV

Malang. The Student Association of the Department of Arabic Literature, State University of Malang (UM) successfully held the opening and final of the Mahrojan Araby XV competition with the theme “Learning Arabic Language and Literature in the Covid-19 Pandemic Period; Challenges and Expectations”. This event was held online through the Zoom Meeting on Saturday (29/05/2021). Participants who took part in this event came from within and outside the country, because this event was on an international scale.

This event is a routine event held at HMJ Arabic Literature with two main events, namely a competition (musabaqah) and an seminar INCAFA (International Conference in Arabic Festival). The Mahrojan Araby competition is divided into national and international levels. Khatabah and Ghina` Araby for the national level competition, while the Tartil and Tilawatil Qur’an competition for the international level. The competitions in the Mahrojan Araby event are aimed at improving the Arabic language skills of JSA (Arabic Literature) students at UM.

In his remarks, the Head of the Department of Arabic Literature, Dr. Hanik Mahliatussikah, M. Hum. conveyed many thanks to all participants and committees who had successfully organized the Mahrojan Araby XV event and gave several messages to the students. “I would like to thank all the committees and participants for all their efforts to make this event a success, hopefully God will reward them,” he said.

“It is obligatory for all of you to practice in each lesson , and practice these skills in daily activities, especially until you can take part in competition events, this is a very good achievement. How to apply it? Namely by carrying out 3 things; have clear goals, don’t be afraid to be wrong, and believe in your abilities. And love what you have dreamed of because love will make everything easier and enrich yourself with new mufrodat (vocabulary),” he continued.

This event was opened directly by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hanafi, S.Ag., M.Fil,I, as Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Letters UM. Followed by the appearance of the finalists of the competition virtually and will be closed with the INCAFA Seminar. “I hope that through Mahrojan Araby, I can train students to improve their Arabic language skills in competitions,” he concluded.
