SEBUL: ALMS OF THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

Department of Arabic Literature Malang State University

Malang. Arabic is one of the most difficult languages to learn. This is because Arabic has its own characteristics that are different from other languages, starting from the accuracy of the pronunciation of Makhraj letters to changes in words. Therefore, consistency is needed in learning Arabic. But the reality is that sometimes the enthusiasm for learning increases, sometimes it decreases.Through one of its work programs, the Arabic Literature Department Student Association of the State University of Malang provides motivation and tips for learning Arabic to children at the Putera Muhammadiyah Malang Orphanage. The event is a series of SEBUL (Ramadhan Month Alms) activities which were held on Saturday (24/04) with the theme “welcoming the holy month, with the beauty of sharing”.

The activity began after carrying out the Asr prayer in congregation, followed by remarks. After that, the students were gathered in the mosque to listen to the explanation of the motivation for learning Arabic. The event continued with basic level Arabic learning. Around 40 students who attended that day were divided into 3 groups according to the level of education, namely SD, SMP and SMA. The students seemed enthusiastic about listening to material after material. Coupled with the presence of Arabic songs, the whole mosque echoed with the songs of the students. Until it feels like it’s almost time to break the fast. The event was followed by a group photo and breaking fast together.

Chief Executive Wahidiyat Nur Laduni revealed that SEBUL is an annual activity held by Arabic Literature Department Student Association of the State University of Malang in the month of Ramadan. The purpose of this activity, he continued, is to increase the social sensitivity of HMJ members and as a form of community service. “In previous years it was only with sharing takjil, this year we present with a different concept, namely basic Arabic language training and breaking fast with orphans, so that this activity is more meaningful,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dasuki Orphanage Leader hopes that this activity will not stop here. He hopes that Arabic Literature Department Student Association of the State University of Malang can cooperate with the orphanage to develop an Arabic language program. “Masha Allah, this is an extraordinary activity, and coincidentally we are in need of personnel to develop the Arabic language program here, because so far sometimes the program runs, sometimes it doesn’t, therefore I hope that Arabic Literature Department Student Association of the State University of Malang can join here to develop an Arabic program”.
