Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) will host the Lokovasia 2024 event, a music festival that aims to preserve and promote the richness of Indonesian music. The event is scheduled to take place on September 3, 2024, in building D14, AVA room. Lokovasia 2024 is expected to be a new milestone in the efforts to preserve traditional Indonesian music. With the diversity of cultures and tribes, Indonesian music is a rich and valuable heritage. The event will feature performances from various regions, facilitating collaboration between young and senior artists.
The festival will feature a variety of activities, including workshops, panel discussions, and live performances. One of the main focuses is the empowerment of women in arts and culture. By showcasing female artists and providing a platform for them to work, the event is in line with the goal of improving gender equality.
As an educational institution committed to cultural preservation, UM involves lecturers and students in organizing this event. This is a means to educate the younger generation about the importance of appreciating and preserving traditional music and supporting the role of women in the arts.
The event provides a platform for female artists to perform and share their experiences, and inspires young people to pursue a career in the arts. By involving women in all aspects of the festival, from planning to performance, the event is committed to creating equal opportunities in arts and culture. Panel discussions and workshops highlighting the role of women in traditional music will raise awareness of the importance of gender equality in society.
With the holding of Lokovasia 2024, it is hoped that more young generations, especially women, will be encouraged to get to know and preserve traditional music. This event is expected to inspire local communities to continue to work and preserve Indonesia’s cultural richness. Lokovasia 2024 at the State University of Malang has the potential to be an important momentum in the journey of preserving Indonesian music, creating synergy between tradition and innovation, and strengthening gender equality in the world of art.
