On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, origami and kirigami training held by Yon Ade Lose Hermanto, S.Sn, M.Sn from Universitas Negeri Malang at Kolej Komuniti Selayang Selangor, Malaysia, focused on inclusive and sustainable community development. This activity emphasized the importance of creating sustainable cities and communities.
Origami and kirigami, the traditional Japanese art of paper folding and cutting, are not only forms of artistic expression, but also effective tools for building and strengthening communities. By teaching these techniques to Indonesian students abroad, this training provides an opportunity to promote creativity as a means of inclusive and participatory education. This activity supports cultural and artistic diversity, which can enrich communities with new knowledge and skills.
This training facilitates the creation of innovative and environmentally friendly learning media. The use of paper as the main material not only supports the principle of sustainability by reducing dependence on non-renewable materials, but also helps students develop creative solutions to their learning challenges. Thus, this activity strengthens social networks and improves the quality of education, which in turn contributes to the development of more sustainable and inclusive communities.
