On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Kolej Komuniti Selayang Selangor, Malaysia, an origami and kirigami training was held led by Yon Ade Lose Hermanto, S.Sn, M.Sn, from Universitas Negeri Malang. This activity aims to introduce and develop origami and kirigami techniques as innovative methods in the learning process for Indonesian students in Malaysia. This training contributes to Sustainable Development which emphasizes the importance of industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
In the context of this training, it supports innovation in teaching methods by integrating traditional arts into modern educational strategies. Origami and kirigami, as paper folding techniques, not only enrich the learning experience but also stimulate students’ creativity and technical skills. This method offers a new way to create more interactive and engaging learning aids, which can facilitate the understanding of complex concepts in a more visual and practical way.
By encouraging the adoption of traditional techniques in the context of contemporary education, this training also underlines the importance of educational infrastructure that supports innovation. Through this activity, students are expected to not only gain practical skills but also inspire new approaches to teaching that utilize the potential of art and technology simultaneously. Thus, this training plays an important role in advancing the education industry and encouraging innovation in the field of arts education.
