Origami and Kirigami Training held on August 14, 2024 at Kolej Komuniti Selayang Selangor, Malaysia, by Yon Ade Lose Hermanto, S.Sn, M.Sn, a lecturer from the State University of Malang, This activity provides equal opportunities for all students, both male and female, to develop their artistic skills and creativity. Through this training, it is hoped that an inclusive learning environment can be created, where gender is not a barrier in the learning process and self-development.
The art of origami and kirigami, which basically requires precision, creativity, and patience, is an effective medium to show that artistic skills do not belong to one gender alone. All students, regardless of gender, have the same potential to master and enjoy the process of creating this work of art. In addition, by involving male and female students in the same activity, this training also serves as a platform to promote cooperation and mutual understanding between genders.
They can learn together, exchange ideas, and appreciate each other’s work, which will ultimately build mutual respect and solidarity. This training also serves as a means to prepare the younger generation who are sensitive to gender equality issues. By experiencing firsthand that gender does not determine ability, students are expected to become agents of change in the future, who will continue to push for the principles of equality in various aspects of life.
