Literacy Service 2021: Community Service Activities Indonesian Literature Student Association (HMJ) Indonesian

Literacy Service is one of the annual work programs of the Indonesian Literature Student Association, State University of Malang. This activity is an effort to implement the Tri Dharma of higher education, especially in the fields of education and community service. This community service was held for four days with various activities. In carrying out these activities, members of the Indonesian Literature Department Student Association were also involved. The theme of the 2021 Literacy Service is “Building an AWARE Spirit (Productive, Educational, Creative, and Action) to Break Boundaries in Literacy from an Early Age” to improve people’s literacy skills. In addition, students are able to become individuals who have high social awareness, so they are ready and responsive in dealing with problems that arise in society. The 2021 literacy service activity will be held during the month of Ramadan on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 07.00-14.40 WIB at the Mubarrot NU Orphanage, Al-Maarif Foundation, Ngadilangkung Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency, East Java Province.

The series of activities for the 2021 Literacy Service include building a reading corner, painting script walls, conducting book raising, and holding competitions to fill activities in the month of Ramadan. The holding of literary and religious competitions was held at the Mubarrot NU Orphanage, Al-Maarif Foundation with an education level of SMP/SMA-K. Students are taught about the importance of literacy from an early age, through pre-packaged competitions. Public awareness of the importance of maintaining health is also increased through outreach activities on the implementation of health protocols. In addition, all committees and administrators of the Indonesian Literature Student Association also built a reading corner which is expected to later be useful for increasing the spirit of literacy and also helping them in the learning process. To fill the reading corner, all committees and administrators of the Indonesian Literature Student Association held a book collection. Activities carried out at the 2021 Literacy Service include directing activity participants with the activity committee. Second, there were remarks made by the Chairperson of the Foundation, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Literature HMJ, and the Chief Executive of the 2021 Literacy Service. Activities during the event included competitions and socialization of reading corners by the committee. The last activity was the handing over of souvenirs and a reading corner.
