One of the highly anticipated series of activities was the Grebeg Sabrang dance performance, performed by undergraduate students of Dance and Music Education from the department. The performance not only showcased the beauty of traditional dance but also underlined the values of local wisdom that are important to preserve and promote in the context of sustainable development.
The Grebeg Sabrang dance performance symbolizes SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation as an integral element of sustainable development. Through this dance, workshop participants were reminded of the rich culture that exists in their communities and how this culture can be integrated in designs that support a sustainable environment.
During the workshop, participants were also given the opportunity to discuss how cultural values such as those displayed in the Grebeg Sabrang dance can be integrated in their design practice. The event aimed to encourage creative thinking on how cultural preservation can be part of sustainable design solutions and promote more inclusive and harmonious communities.
