SDG 9

From July 1-4, 2024, the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Program at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) explored a collaboration with Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar and Studio Brownbag. This collaboration aims to support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and develop pioneering Teaching Industry initiatives at DKV UM.

The partnership with ISI Denpasar and Studio Brownbag is expected to greatly benefit DKV UM students. Through knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and technology transfer, students will have the opportunity to learn directly from leading industry practitioners and academics. This will enhance the quality of education and provide a broader insight into the creative industry.

This collaboration will also create opportunities for the development of Teaching Industry, where students can engage in real-world projects related to visual communication design. As a result, they will gain invaluable practical experience before entering the workforce. These projects will also pave the way for innovation and product development, contributing to local and national economic growth.

Additionally, this collaboration supports the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education, research, and community service. Through this partnership, it is hoped that innovative research applicable to the creative industry will be developed, as well as community service programs that can positively impact society.

The collaboration with ISI Denpasar and Studio Brownbag also opens opportunities for DKV UM to build a strong professional network. This will expand students’ and faculty’s access to various resources, including training, workshops, and seminars, all contributing to enhanced competencies and competitiveness.

Overall, this collaboration is a strategic step in supporting and building synergy between academia and industry. DKV UM is committed to promoting a sustainable creative industry, encouraging innovation, and building robust educational infrastructure. This initiative not only enhances the quality of education at DKV UM but also provides tangible contributions to the development of the creative industry in Indonesia.
