On August 3, 2024, Pantai Gatra hosted a poetry exhibition by SMPK YBPK Sitiarjo students as part of a series of Literacy Services organized by the Indonesian Literature Department Student Association of the State University of Malang. This activity aims to showcase students’ literary creativity while increasing interest in reading and writing among students.
SMPK YBPK Sitiarjo students worked hard the day before the event to prepare and decorate the exhibition media. They made a variety of exciting displays, from colorful posters to creative installations featuring their poems about the beauty of nature and environmental awareness. This process involved guidance from teachers and literature students, who helped in the aesthetic organization and effective delivery of the poems’ messages.
The exhibition was not just a display, but an interactive experience. It kicked off with inspiring remarks from representatives of the Student Association and the school. Visitors were then invited to immerse themselves in the poems on display, which depicted a variety of themes ranging from the beauty of the beach to the importance of protecting the environment. Students eagerly interacted with visitors, explaining the inspiration behind their work and discussing the values contained in their poems, making the event a truly engaging experience for all.
The event not only provided a platform for students to express their creativity but also called upon the public to appreciate and preserve the environment more. With the success of this exhibition, HMD Sastra Indonesia hopes to inspire the public, especially the younger generation, to take an active role in nature conservation, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility and motivation.
