The presence of 3+1 exchange students in China is not just a visit but a unique experience. One of the highlights of their journey is the opportunity to explore the vast Guangxi University, including its impressive library at No.115, Yanshan Road, Yanshan Town, Yanshan District, Guilin City, China.

History of the Library 雁山 [yànshān]

The Guangxi Normal University Library was established in 1932. During the Anti-Japanese War, the War of Liberation, and the early days of the People’s Republic of China, the library changed locations several times as the school’s history changed. In 1954, the library was moved with the school to the Wangcheng campus; in 1982, the Yucai campus library building was completed; in September 2002, the new Yucai campus library replaced the original structure and was inaugurated with a construction area of more than 20,000 square meters. On October 12, 2018, the Yanshan Campus Library officially opened, and the Guangxi Normal University Library opened a new courtyard. Up to now, the libraries of the three campuses total 82,500 square meters.

Expectations for students 

The hope for the 3+1 exchange students’ future stay at the 雁山 Library is to establish closer and more supportive international relationships between the students and the local community. Hopefully, this experience will enrich the student’s academic knowledge and insights and encourage new collaborations in research projects and cultural activities. It is hoped that the 雁山 Library will continue to be a platform that brings together different perspectives and ideas worldwide and facilitates the exchange of helpful information. As such, this stopover experience could be a stepping stone for more extensive cooperation, strengthening the future cultural and educational bridges between different countries.
