Waste sorting campaign in Jit Jongrak School has been a part of outreach activity that is carried out every semester. The campaign was held by the teachers of the school and attended by all the elementary students of Jit Jongrak School on May 27th, 2024. This year, 2 students from English Department Universitas Negeri Malang got a chance to actively participate in the program during their International Teaching Assistance period. The program aims to expose the students about the importance of waste sorting and amplify their volition to do it.
On May 27th 2024, the elementary students gathered at the hallway of school to comprehend the material about waste sorting processes from the teacher. The material is delivered by one of the teachers in Jit Jongrak School, Ms. Rattaya Modjod. The waste sorting campaign will facilitate the next step of waste management. By applying waste sorting, the waste will be divided between the organic and inorganic that can reduce the air pollution. After the campaign was held, students were expected to begin the sorting every day before going home.

Thirty minutes before leaving the school, the students are asked to clean up the rubbish bin in their classroom and sort it out in a bigger rubbish bin outside. The waste is collected into 4 different types which are organic waste, recycled waste, general waste, and hazardous waste. The waste sorting program became one of the fixed agendas in Jitjongrak School with expectation that the students will get used to do the waste sorting.
