Quality education is essential for the progress of individuals and societies. A key component of this goal is providing access to relevant and globally recognized training and certification. Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) has reaffirmed its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, “Quality Education,” by offering the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 German language certification exam.
Held on Jamuary 18, 2024, at UM’s campus in Malang, Indonesia, the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 is an internationally recognized certification that assesses proficiency in the German language. By hosting this exam, UM not only offers students and the general public an opportunity to validate their language skills but also facilitates their access to various international opportunities.
This initiative by UM supports several facets of quality education. Firstly, obtaining German language certification enhances participants’ foreign language abilities, which are crucial in today’s globalized world. Proficiency in foreign languages enables individuals to communicate and collaborate more effectively on an international scale and enhances their opportunities for further education or employment abroad.
Secondly, organizing such exams reflects UM’s efforts to improve education quality by providing access to internationally recognized programs. This aligns with SDG 4’s focus on ensuring equitable access to quality education and enabling everyone to acquire the necessary skills for success in an interconnected world.
Furthermore, this initiative contributes to the long-term goal of fostering an inclusive and knowledgeable society, where language skills play a significant role in broadening knowledge and facilitating cultural exchange. By supporting German language proficiency through certification, UM helps prepare individuals to actively participate in the global community.
Overall, UM’s hosting of the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 exam is a commendable step towards achieving SDG 4. It showcases the institution’s dedication to enhancing education quality and accessibility while providing tangible benefits to those seeking growth in a global context. Such efforts bring us closer to creating a more inclusive and high-quality education system ready to address future challenges.
