Three students from the German Literature Department of Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) have been awarded scholarships by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to participate in summer courses at prestigious universities in Germany. Over the course of a month, Muhammad Iqbal and Rafi Kurnia will study at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, while Alif Nadia will attend Universität Leipzig.
This initiative is a significant step in advancing Quality Education (SDG 4), aiming to provide inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. The participation of these students in the summer courses is part of UM’s commitment to enhancing educational quality and broadening international exposure for its students.
The selected students will deepen their German language skills, based on their placement test results, through immersive and intensive coursework. This opportunity will not only improve their linguistic proficiency but also prepare them for future academic and professional endeavors. Language skills are critical for engaging with the global community and accessing a broader range of educational resources and opportunities.
In addition to language studies, Muhammad Iqbal, Rafi Kurnia, and Alif Nadia will engage in collaborative learning with German students. They will experience the local culture and participate in various academic activities. This international collaboration is crucial for fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange, which are vital components of a comprehensive education.
The summer courses in Germany provide a unique platform for these students to gain global competence, which is essential in today’s interconnected world. By studying in a different educational system and interacting with students from diverse backgrounds, they will gain new perspectives and insights that will enrich their academic experience and personal growth.
This collaboration with DAAD and the participation of UM students in the summer courses underscore UM’s dedication to enhancing the quality of education through international partnerships. Such initiatives are aligned with the goals of SDG 4, which emphasize the importance of international cooperation in education to promote inclusive and equitable opportunities for all learners.
The successful participation of Muhammad Iqbal, Rafi Kurnia, and Alif Nadia in the DAAD-sponsored summer courses in Germany highlights the importance of international educational experiences in achieving Quality Education (SDG 4). By providing these opportunities, Universitas Negeri Malang is fostering a culture of excellence and global awareness among its students, preparing them to contribute effectively to a more inclusive and sustainable world.
We hope that this experience will inspire more students to pursue international opportunities, further enhancing the quality of education and promoting lifelong learning at Universitas Negeri Malang. The collaboration with DAAD and German universities is a testament to the power of global partnerships in advancing educational goals and creating meaningful learning experiences for all.
