The Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang, in collaboration with the Malang City Subject Teacher Conference, held a Continuous Professional Development Training activity titled “Strengthening Literary Literacy for Indonesian Language Teachers.” This event was held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 13:00 in AVA Hall, Building D14, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang.

This training aims to improve literary literacy among Indonesian language teachers. With this increase in literacy, it is hoped that teachers can teach literature better and spread a love of literature to their students.

This activity was enriched by the participation of Indonesian language teachers who are members of MGMP MTs Malang City. Their active involvement, along with the guidance of the presenters, Yoga Prasetya, M.Pd, head of MGMP Bahasa Indonesia, and Dr. Roekhan, M.Pd, a lecturer at the State University of Malang, made this training a success. The event was moderated by the dedicated Ida Nurhayati, S.Pd.

The primary goal of this training is to enhance literary literacy among Indonesian language teachers. By strengthening their literary skills, we aim to empower teachers to deliver literature lessons more effectively. This, in turn, is expected to ignite a passion for reading and understanding literary works in their students, thereby” enriching their knowledge and insight.

This “Strengthening Lit “rary Literacy for Indonesian Language Teachers” activity is a concrete step from the Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang, and MGMP MTs Malang City to improve the quality of literary education in Indonesia. Regarding literacy, Indonesia’s young generation will likely love literature more and have high literacy skills.
