Be an East Java Students Coordinator in Kampus Mengajar 5

Continuing the previous activity, Kampus Mengajar 4, the  Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, is holding a program named Kampus Mengajar 5. The program is designed to improve students’ literacy and numeracy skills at the elementary and junior high school levels by making students in college as the main actors become famous programs because of the activities that are provided during the duty period.

As we know, Kampus Mengajar is a National program held throughout Indonesia. Therefore, to realize the fluency of every activity in each region, the committee invites students to contribute more to this program.

In every batch, The committee of Kampus Mengajar looks at and selects students from each province in Indonesia to become student coordinators named “Kontributor Komunikasi Nasional” or “National Communication Contributor” in English. During the assignment period,  contributors will receive additional tasks from the committee, including conveying and ensuring information from the committee is related to each participant, monitoring each participant in the assigned school, helping participants who have problems, and being the right hand of the committee if there are students who are frequently absent.

The story comes from Raihan, a student of Universitas Negeri Malang who was assigned as the student coordinator in Kampus Mengajar 5 for East Java.

While on duty,  each coordinator is free to create their program. Therefore, Raihan and the  Regional  Coordinator held two programs in East Java, including weekend monitoring and school visits.

In the weekend monitoring program, Raihan asked each group leader in each assigned school to report on the activities and problems they experienced. In this program, together with the Regional Coordinator, Raihan will assist each group leader when experiencing problems, either from the school, team members, or the surrounding environment, by providing suggestions and solutions that have been adjusted to the directions and guidelines from the committee.

Raihan and the  Regional  Coordinators visited every school in their respective areas in the second work program. In this activity, Raihan and the Tulungagung Regional Coordinator visited every school in Tulungagung to monitor each participant at school. In addition, in this work program, Raihan wants to get to know each Campus Teaching participant more closely.

While carrying out this second work program, Raihan got many stories from each participant. One of them came from students who were assigned to schools in remote areas.

Elvina, a Mathematics Education Student from  Bhinneka  PGRI University, told how she came to school in rainy weather.

Elvina said that she had to pass through the road that circled the hill to get to school. Unlike the city, the road conditions that must be passed are pretty steep and still need to be paved. Even around the road, there are more forests than settlements. Raihan, who heard the story, respects Elvina because when she was at school, the positive energy she brought was still 100%, and she could transmit it to every student at school.

From every story that  Raihan has heard,  Raihan feels very happy and grateful because the Teaching Campus program in his area can be carried out in such an extraordinary way, even in schools located in remote areas. In addition, he gets many evaluations from each participant for the next batch of Campus Teaching trips so that they can run even better than Batch 5.

From the experience of Raihan, there were many lessons to be learned, and it became an unforgettable memory.
