HMD Arabic Literature FS UM Holds Araby Week

Arabi Week is an annual work program of the Arabic Literature Department Student Association (HMD) for the 2022 period. This competition activity has targeted participants from all SMA / MA students and undergraduate students throughout Indonesia with the theme “Implementation of Arabic Language and Literature in the Actuality of International Communication in the Era of Society 5.0”. This activity was held on October 02 – 16, 2022, Virtual / Online and Offline. This event aims to answer the challenges of the existence of Arabic in a competitive era by appreciating the love of Arabic, realizing a means of sharing, exchanging knowledge, and adding insights about Arabic for learners, teachers, experts, and Arabic language lovers in Indonesia. In addition, this event aims as a medium of evaluation to improve the quality of the Arabic language and its teaching in Indonesia.

Arabi Week is held for one week, including a series of language-related events, which are packaged in a series of competitions. The competitions in a series of Arabi Week events are Khatabah (Speech), Arabic Olympiad, Taqdim al-Qisshoh (Arabic Storytelling), Musabaqah Qiroatul Kutub (MQK), Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ), Calligraphy, and Munadharah “Ilmiyyah (Scientific Debate).

Based on considerations so that this activity is more flexible regarding place and time for all students and students throughout Indonesia, Pekan Arabi 2022 will be held offline and online on Sunday, October 2 – 16, 2022. Participants can take part in competitions from the preliminary round to the final through their respective residences. At the same time, the committee will be present to manage activities offline at the Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang.

The results of the implementation of PEKAN ARABI 2022 are the benefits that have been described. Students who become organizers will gain precious experience. This activity increases the solidarity of Arabic Literature Department students between generations. In addition, this activity helps introduce the State University of Malang, especially the Department of Arabic Literature, to Arabic students throughout Indonesia. The number of participants in the competition reached 842, consisting of students and undergraduate students from various institutions spread throughout Indonesia.
